Newlink managing director receives special honor at Cannes Lions Dominicana
The Dominican Republic’s premier advertising awards gala has recognized Eduardo Valcárcel, Newlink’s managing director in that country, for his professional career and his steadfast support for the local creative industry.
Santo Domingo, May 26, 2016 - Newlink’s managing director in the Dominican Republic, Eduardo Valcárcel, received a special recognition at the Cannes Lions Dominicana festival for his successful career and his valuable support for the local creative industry.
“Eduardo is a person who has believed we can achieve great things as a country and has been a key supporter of this project, which initially was just a big dream and today is already 10 years old,” Cannes Lions’ director in the Dominican Republic, Carlos Suárez, said.
The Cannes Lions Dominicana festival is the country’s leading advertising awards gala. It serves to honor new local creative talent and select those individuals who will travel to France to represent the country at the famed Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the most prestigious international awards show for creative communications professionals. Awards for “Person of the Year,” a category open to communications industry figures, advertising professionals and business leaders, and “Journalist of the Year,” established in 2014 and 2015, respectively, also are conferred at Cannes Lions Dominicana.
In addition to the traditional prizes, festival organizers decided to mark the Cannes Lions Dominicana’s 10th anniversary by awarding a special recognition for outstanding contributions to the national advertising industry. Eduardo Valcárcel was chosen for that honor.
Eduardo, who holds an undergraduate degree in advertising from Universidad APEC, a graduate degree in telecommunications law and a diploma in marketing management, has a more than 20-year professional track record. Prior to joining Newlink, he headed up the Public Relations, Advertising, Corporate Communications and Marketing areas of major companies such as Orange Dominicana, Codetel, Verizon, Claro and Grupo Vicini.
