The Latest from Newlink’s Tourism Practice

In a hyperconnected world, the ball never stops rolling and that is certainly true for Newlink’s Tourism area of expertise.

While Tourism is pictured as simply long walks on the beach, our team has been busy coordinating press trips and media tours with top tier media, executing  successful digital campaigns, supporting our client’s participation in industry trade shows, hosting events, developing Orbital Strategies to reinforce brand positioning and discover the shared purpose for main capitals around the world, and continuously securing top media placements for clients. Newlink is pleased to announce several stellar new accounts, as described below in a fun intro:

The one with Adventure, Nature, and More:
Grupo Xcaret

In February, Newlink expanded its scope for Grupo Xcaret adding to its roster the company’s nine eco-friendly parks and tours for representation in both US/Canada and Mexico markets. A leader in sustainable and socially responsible tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, the brand’s parks and tours specialize in offering visitors unique and unforgettable experiences, through unparalleled products and services that highlight the best of Mexico and are respectful of the environment. Highlights include Xcaret Park, the brand’s original and signature park, Xel-ha, a natural sanctuary and the brand’s only aquatic park, and Xplor and Xavage, the brand’s designated adventure parks.

In addition to media relations, the team has helped strengthen influencer relations for the brand and is currently collaborating with entertainment agencies in denoting brand ambassadors for Xavage, Xplor and Xplor Fuego.

Most recently, Xcaret park hosted the Premios Platino, an awards ceremony honoring the best in Ibero-American films. Newlink helped coordinate on-site shootings at Grupo Xcaret’s adventure parks for ABC’s On The Red Carpet show, alongside global talent including Eric Winter and Alyssa Diaz from ABC hit-show The Rookie and Bolivian actor Reynaldo Pacheco. This resulted in several TV appearances in ABC's local stations throughout major US cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston.

The one that has transformed from an Art Deco Classic:
Lennox Hotel Miami Beach

Lennox Hotel Miami Beach, in partnership with Paraiso Miami Beach, just hosted its grand opening event that kicked off Miami Swim Week. But Newlink’s efforts started back in February, serving U.S., Canada, UK, Brazil and Argentina markets. Lennox Hotel Miami Beach is a bold luxury boutique hotel that sits in the heart of Miami Beach’s historic district in what was once the Peter Miller Hotel, a Collins Ave. landmark built in 1936. After undertaking a complete transformation of the property, Lennox Hotel Miami Beach is proud to open its doors to guests and offer seamless service with upscale amenities and an authentic Miami experience.

The one that just celebrated its centenary:
Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona

Since opening in 1918, the five-star Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona has played an emblematic role in Barcelona architecture, society and lifestyle, hosting notable guests such as Ernest Hemingway and Antonio Machado. Since February, Newlink’s tourism practice has driven media relations for this iconic landmark focusing on its spectacular interiors led by Antonio Obrador, which allowed the neo-classical French style property reclaimed its place among the iconic landmarks of the vibrant city after a five-year renovation. Majestic Hotel & Spa boasts award-winning gastronomy, as in 2018 it was recognized by Prix Villégiature for serving the Best Breakfast in Europe. Spanning 5,000 square feet, the hotel is also home to the largest suite in Barcelona– and the only offering views of both the renowned Paseo de Gracia and Sagrada Familia. While our team is just getting started, among the placements secured most recently include Forbes, Travel + Leisure, and Elite Traveler.

The one that epitomizes design & art travel:
VP Plaza España Design Madrid

Since April, Newlink’s tourism practice has hit the ground running for the beautiful VP Plaza España Design – a fairly new property in Madrid that opened in March 2018. The fifth and flagship property by family-owned VP Hoteles, this stand-out hotel is characterized by its impressive architecture, design and contemporary art breathing out of every corner. The property’s pièce de résistance, for example, is a 25 meter metallic waterfall sculpture by Catalan artist Pere Gifre that can be seen from the glassbottom pool on the 12th floor splashing down to the Atrium below. The 214-room property certainly raises the bar for travelers seeking new experiences in Spain’s lively capital, especially being set in a privileged location just a few steps away from the Royal Palace, the Almudena Cathedral and the Temple of Debod. Among our top achievements thus far? Placement in Robb Report, Condé Nast Traveler, and Thirsty Magazine.

Other notable mentions (and we’re just half-way through 2019) including working with Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s most important tradeshow event. In April, Newlink organized and executed an international press agenda with more than 30 participants from around the world. Our team also developed an Orbital Strategy, our proprietary method, for Madrid, and recently supported the Greater Medellin Convention & Visitors Bureau for media events in New York City and Miami to promote La Feria de las Flores.
